A Word From Your Local President

As we approach the end of another busy year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made together and the work that lies ahead for our local.

It has been a privilege to serve as your president and to represent such a dedicated and diverse group of members across our workplaces. Since taking on this role, I have witnessed firsthand the strength of our solidarity, the professionalism of our members, and the commitment we all share to fairness, respect, and safety in the workplace.

Our local executive has been working hard to ensure that member voices are heard and that your rights under the collective agreement are upheld. I want to extend my appreciation to the entire Executive Committee for their ongoing commitment and teamwork. Each of them plays a vital role in supporting members and advancing our shared goals.

In the months ahead, we will continue to focus on important issues that affect our members, including Workforce Adjustment (WFA). We understand that organizational changes and workforce transitions can be stressful and uncertain. Our local is committed to ensuring that members receive the information, guidance, and representation they need throughout the WFA process. No member should face these challenges alone—your union is here to support you every step of the way.

To strengthen member engagement and awareness, we will also be hosting a series of Lunch and Learn sessions on key topics such as WFA, workplace rights, health and safety, and collective bargaining. These sessions are designed to provide practical information, answer your questions, and empower members to take an active role in their union.

Looking ahead, the coming year will bring continued challenges and opportunities. Collective bargaining will remain a key focus as we advocate for fair wages, improved working conditions, and recognition of the essential work our members perform every day. With economic pressures and organizational changes continuing to affect public sector workers, it is more important than ever that we remain informed, engaged, and united.

I encourage every member to take an active role—whether by attending membership meetings, participating in Lunch and Learn sessions, volunteering as a shop steward, or simply staying informed through our updates and resources. Your participation is the foundation of our strength as a union.

Our Local is more than a collective—it’s a community. Together, we have shown that when we stand in solidarity, we can make a real difference.

Thank you for your continued support, trust, and commitment to one another. I look forward to the year ahead and to continuing our shared efforts to build a fair, safe, and respectful workplace for all members.
