A Local 70008 Commitment to Confidential Support
Local 70008 is committed to supporting the well-being of every PSAC–UHEW member we represent. Our trained Local 70008 stewards offer confidential, one-on-one support when you’re dealing with challenges at work or in your personal life.
These volunteers are fellow members who are here to listen without judgment, help you sort through what’s happening, and connect you with appropriate union, health, or community resources. Every interaction is guided by privacy, dignity, and respect.
When You Might Reach Out
You are encouraged to contact a Local 70008 steward if you are experiencing or expecting:
- Conflict, harassment, discrimination, or escalating stress in the workplace
- Concerns related to workload, attendance, or performance
- Personal or family issues that are affecting you at work
- A need to talk things through before deciding whether to file a grievance or take formal action
No issue is “too small.” Our goal is simple: no member should have to navigate difficult situations alone. We’re here to help you think through your options and identify a realistic path forward.
What Local 70008 Volunteers Offer
Support from Local 70008 volunteers is built around timely, focused, and practical help:
- Confidential Conversations
Private, one-on-one discussions that can be arranged on or off site, with flexibility for evenings or weekends whenever possible. - Information and Referrals
Guidance and referrals to union representatives, health professionals, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), and community supports where appropriate. - Respectful, Non-Judgmental Support
You will be treated with fairness and empathy, with absolutely no pressure and no judgment. You remain in control of your decisions.

Why This Support Exists
This volunteer-based support reflects an important principle within PSAC and UHEW:
many problems are easier to manage when members can access early, personal support, long before things reach a formal grievance or crisis stage.
Through the efforts of Local 70008 volunteers, we:
- Provide a safe, informal first point of contact for members in difficulty
- Encourage early intervention to prevent issues from escalating
- Strengthen solidarity and a culture of care within our Local
